Mini Modular Numbers 8 and 9 - Grand Emporium and Cafe Corner
The next two - Grand Emporium and Cafe Corner were again worked on at the same time as they were both another couple of corner ones and I'd be trying to re-use the corner techniques from the Palace Cinema that I'd learnt.
For the Grand Emporium I wanted to not use just one single curved piece for the "shop" word so had to use a special approach inside the front of the building that isn't visible from the outside unless you look really close. The piece I used is quite large so I had to make room for it around it inside - bit of a tricky bit! Personally I'd love to improve the flags approach on this so may take another look at it soon - I just couldn't work out which little bits to use instead.
I was loving the vibrant yellow colours on the Cafe Corner so wanted to keep the prominence on those. I also wanted to keep the top 5 windows exactly the same and it took ages to work out what to do behind the angled one to keep it in place - had some fun behind there! Not many more corner ones to go thankfully - they're a bit of a handful!
All my designs are on Rebrickable right here - Chris Tromans on Rebrickable
Here are these two lovely corner ones in image form.
