Mini Modular Number 16 - Downtown Diner
Wow - I'm one away from the whole series being designed in mini form - what a 6 weeks this has been!! So much hard work but so much fun.
So - onto number 16 - Downtown Diner. Another difficult one - so many curves!
I took the same approach as the last one in Studio and searched for "curve" and "round" in the parts list and then added many many of those parts onto the 'canvas' in front of me to try and make some decisions about what was best for the look. I wanted to use some particular curved plates but then found there weren't tiles with the same curve radius to go on top so I had to go for the 3x3 curved wedge as only the 2x2 curve tile fits that radius.
The other part I really wanted but Lego don't do is a 1x1 curved plate to sit under those 1x1 curve tile on the right hand side - I had to compromise but it looks ok I believe.
I had a bit of fun with this one as well - the first one I went for redesigning the interior too!! I'm loving my black and white checked floor, bar stools, bar, pizza oven and juke box in this one - yeah, couldn't resist... lol.
I'm not a fan of how I've done the 'diner' name so I'll probably have another look at that soon and use flat tiles facing me instead to keep it simpler - I just stuck with the same vertical plate approach for now as with the windows right behind it.
All my designs are on Rebrickable right here - Chris Tromans on Rebrickable
Here is Downtown Diner in mini form - even with a tiny interior - crazy!
